At Westlake, we want to give our children an education that recognizes and trains the entire person: body, mind, and soul. We want to encourage them to embrace their role in God’s story and to empower them to actively participate in God’s story.

Teaching for Transformation is a consistent and unified framework that helps our school accomplish these goals. Discipleship characteristics and habits of learning are introduced at an early age and are built upon throughout a student’s entire educational journey at Westlake. These learning experiences invite, nurture, and empower teachers and students to play their part in God’s story through everyday learning.

Using language and imagery that connects both to curriculum and the kingdom story, students are invited to see the story of God’s love for his people and his unfolding plan of redemption.

A TfT classroom goes beyond seeing the story—it invites learners to live the story. Service Learning has always been a foundational part of the Westlake experience, and TfT encourages activities that provide real work that meets a real need for real people. From preschool to 12th grade, our students are responding to God’s call to be active, restorative, and creative.
