The Read-A-Thon is in Full Swing—Jump In Anytime!

We are embarking on a "Reading Road Trip" to celebrate reading and raise funds for our school's mission. The journey begins at Westlake's Book Fair, where students will have the opportunity to purchase exciting new books to read during the Read-A-Thon.

A Read-A-Thon is a school fundraising event where students challenge themselves to read as much as they can over a set period. Instead of selling cookie dough or wrapping paper, students raise money by asking friends and family to "sponsor" their reading.

Students in Preschool through 6th grade are invited to participate by creating a personalized fundraising page. Prizes will be awarded to the top fundraisers!

The official dates for the Read-A-Thon are April 15th–30th. Students may keep reading and raising money, but only donations received by April 30th will count toward totals for prizes.

Your Goals:

  • SET A READING GOAL: We recommend 10–20 minutes per day. Minutes can be recorded on the provided reading log, but they do not need to be submitted to the school. Minutes can be earned by reading or listening!
  • SET A FUNDRAISING GOAL: Decide on a total amount you hope to raise. Friends and family can contribute a one-time amount to support your reading effort. While the goal is to read a certain number of minutes per day, donations will not be directly tied to the number of minutes that are read. Sponsors can donate a flat amount at any time during the Read-A-Thon.

Setting Up Your Student's Fundraising Page:

  • REGISTER: Visit our Read-A-Thon portal and click the button “Create my own fundraising page!”
  • INITIAL SETUP: Enter your child’s name and your email address, then click “Create My Page.”
  • CHECK YOUR INBOX: Look for an email titled “Personalize your Crowdfunding page.” Click the button that says, “Personalize my page”
  • CUSTOMIZE: Upload a photo of your student with their favorite books (optional). Edit the story to share their personal reading goal. Click “Save and Publish" then "Email me a new link for this page."
  • HIT THE GAS: Look for a NEW email in your inbox titled “Support my fundraising effort.” Forward this email to several personal contacts (grandparents, neighbors, and friends)! You can also share your student’s fundraising page on social media.
